ScanStone Potato Systems are delighted to announce their latest dealer development program for the south west of England.
Cornwall Farm Machinery (CFM) has been appointed the new official dealer for Cornwall and Devon for the complete ScanStone product and parts range.
CFM will be the go to place for all potato farmers’ needs with our extensive range of products, ranging from the bed makers, award winning bed tillers, award winning destoners, vegetable windrowers and potato harvesters.
Pictured, from left to right is Steve Edmond, Sales manager at CFM, Rob Hattam, GM at CFM, William Skea, Sales manager at ScanStone and Ashley Sismey, Area manager at ScanStone.
Parts and service will also be through CFM now with an extensive parts back up being stocked into both CFM depots for the coming spring season.
Demonstrations of machinery will be handled by Steve Edmond and supported by the factory area manager, Ashley Sismey.
This new relationship comes at an exciting time for both companies where they are both showing signs of advancement in retail and service coverage, firstly with CFM approaching their big new addition with their Carland Cross depot north of Truro which offers fantastic development throughout Cornwall and into areas of Devon with the ScanStone range.
ScanStone Potato Systems have also made an exciting addition this year with the opening of the Lakenheath premises which will service the whole of Southern England and Northern France, offering a same day service for emergency parts rather than overnight from Scotland.
William Skea, ScanStone Sales Manager commented: “We have been a year or two completing plans in Cornwall and the South west for our product range and at times this has been frustrating, knowing that we have an excellent product which suits the market well but not having a suitable outlet for this product which offers key support and sales. Historically with ScanStone and Reekie products we have been market leaders in the South West with our web destoners, sadly this has slipped away but together with CFM we hope to regain market share.”
Rob Hattam, General Manager of Cornwall Farm Machinery is also enthusiastic with the new potato equipment range, “Having done my own research with some close customers, it is clear that the ScanStone range is the way forward and certainly a reliable product which potato farmers in Cornwall want to see more of.”
We are delighted to announce that we have opened our very own ScanStone owned premises in East Anglia. ScanStone Lakenheath was opened last month and the grand opening is to follow sometime later this year. We believe that Lakenheath is in a key area to the potato growing operation in East Anglia and the depot is strategically placed so that it will service the rest of Southern England and also Northern France where our market penetration is growing exponentially.
Our area and depot manager, Ashley Sismey has been with us now for over a year and he has brought with him excellent product knowledge on the service side. Ashley deals with day to day enquiries for ScanStone as well as active parts and machinery sales. He carries out demonstrations of products across the entire ScanStone range as well, all based out of Lakenheath where we have an entire service centre and parts department. Lakenheath is around 12,500 square feet and is equipped with offices, spare parts department, service / workshop area and also dry machine storage. The premises is on the North end of Lakenheath, on Station road where Niagri used to be until they moved.
We have already started stocking Lakenheath with spare parts and webs for the 2018 / 2019 season to give all our valued customer in East Anglia the best possible service and parts back up where they are operating many ScanStone machines, and in particular our award winning destoner range.

“We have already had outstanding and positive feedback from our customers in East Anglia and people are really excited about the new depot and what it is going to offer ScanStone customers in this area.” William Skea.
Ashley Sismey commented, “The opening of Lakenheath has made my job so much easier, I have a place to service machines, to stock parts and a general place to bring customers and farmers for discussions. The local farmers really appreciate our investment in them and in their area”.

Designed and built in Angus, Scotland
Leading vegetable handling equipment manufacturer, Tong Engineering is pleased to announce the appointment of ScanStone potato systems as the company’s new approved dealer for Scotland.
As part of the company’s continued focus on providing the highest levels of customer service, sales and aftersales support, Tong Engineering has confirmed its partnership with ScanStone in order to strengthen its relationship with potato and vegetable growers throughout Scotland.
Located just outside Forfar, Angus, ScanStone is a family-owned and operated business, designing and manufacturing a wide range of soil preparation equipment, built for UK and export markets. “ScanStone has an established reputation within the industry for quality, reliability and excellent service,” says Edward Tong, Managing Director at Tong Engineering.
“Our customer base is very similar to Scan stone’s, both in the UK and overseas, and there are certainly some exciting opportunities for our two businesses to work together in Scotland; developing a complete offering from soil preparation through to crop handling and processing, whilst maximising our product and operational synergies”
“We have a very active existing customer-base in Scotland and we work closely with growers and fresh pack companies of all sizes from North to South,” explains Edward. “In appointing ScanStone as a Tong approved dealer, we are confident this can continue to grow. Their ongoing communication with our customers in Scotland will allow us to be even more responsive to any sales, service and spare parts requirements our customers have.”
Of the new appointment, William Skea, Sales and Service Director at ScanStone said “We are very pleased to be chosen as Tong’s new approved dealer for Scotland. We have always respected Tong equipment for its renowned quality and progressive design. Adding Tong’s post-harvest product range alongside the ScanStone range of in-field equipment will bring customers a complete solution, and we very much look forward to working together to make Tong and ScanStone potato systems the number one choice throughout the country.”
“Our dedicated sales and service teams are experienced in understanding grower’s requirements, and as main Tong parts stockist for Scotland too, we aim to bring a very valuable service to Tong customers,” says William.
The new Tong dealership at ScanStone will cover sales, service and spares for Tong’s complete range of potato and vegetable handling equipment including advanced grading, cleaning, washing, polishing and box handling systems for seed and main crop potatoes and vegetables.
“Scotland remains a very high priority region within our company’s growth strategy, and this latest addition to our approved dealer network represents our focus on ensuring the very best customer experience,” adds Edward. “We look forward to building upon our existing customer relations in Scotland and developing new connections through this new partnership.”
The latest addition to the ScanStone product range is the all new Osprey 3 and Osprey 5 models. These machines are purpose built windrowers. Unlike converted harvesters they have low drops throughout the machine and just enough cleaning to extract haulm and remove earth with 0% damage on all windrowers tested so far.
Furthermore, test and results have shown there to be less damage in the harvested crop when using a windrower due to there being less rollback and generally a fuller harvester.
Trailers spend half as much time alongside the harvester aswell resulting in a generally more efficient lifting program.
We are delighted to inform you that we have appointed Ashley Sismey as our new Area Manager for East Anglia, England.
Ashley will be looking after the sales of the complete ScanStone product range in the areas of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough along with our exisiting dealer in Suffolk, Richard Lapage from RWL Services.
Ashley has a breadth of knowledge in the potato and vegetable industry and has also served his time as an agricultural engineer and has experience already on the ScanStone product range.
Service and parts are still available through our existing parts pods and service centres in East Anglia, which Ashley will be looking after.
Should you have any service or product queries Ashley is the factory contact.
We look forward to this new exciting relationship and we are delighted to be supporting and making this commitment to all our customers in the East Anglia area.
